Flexibility Evaluation of Domestic Electric Water Heater Aggregates

The paper proposes a method to evaluate the flexibility of domestic electric water heater aggregates applied to Italy. The study explored the case of large aggregates defined in the Italy showing the dependence of flexibility on the seasons and times of the day

The paper proposes a method to evaluate the flexibility of domestic electric water heater aggregates applied to Italy. Flexibility is defined as the ability of the aggregate to vary its power demand compared to the ‘base’ absorption profile for a given time interval. The evaluation is carried out by means of a Monte Carlo analysis using the thermal model of electric water heaters and the processing of external inputs, such as ambient and cold water temperatures and hot water demand. The study explored the case of large aggregates defined in the Italy showing the dependence of flexibility on the seasons and times of the day.
