FlexPlan: testing an innovative grid planning tool using European wide regional cases

The H2020 FlexPlan project involves the development and validation of an innovative planning tool for transmission and distribution power grids.

In this document, we present the methodology used in the simulation tool and the preliminary results of four different regional cases covering most of the European territory. An energy scenario for 2030, created within the project, is used, and the results illustrate both the computational capabilities of the tools developed for identifying optimal planning measures under highly complex scenarios.

 

The Optimal Power Flow results obtained will be further used in the project to identify candidates that pass the cost-benefit analysis for optimal grid expansion.
