Natural gas supply in Italy in 2030: a Life Cycle Assessment

The recent geopolitical upheavals have changed the supply path of natural gas towards Europe and Italy.

In this study the effects of these changes have been assessed. Based on the last available data and on scenarios defined by the Italian transmission operator of electricity and gas (SNAM and Terna) the effect of these changes in the 2030 scenarios are presented.

 

The main change is due to the absence of natural gas from Russia in the medium term, and an increase in LNG. The overall result is a reduction in the climate change of the natural gas mix in Italy in 2030.
