Increasing advances in High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) technology developed for transmission grid applications can also be leveraged for distribution grid needs.

This has sparked growing interest in the development of MVDC (Medium Voltage Direct Current) technology. This document provides an overview of ongoing developments in HVDC (high voltage direct current) and MVDC (medium voltage direct current) in Italy. Particular attention is paid to HVDC projects and MVDC studies conducted in recent years in Italy.
