Topological Aspects of Building Synthetic Models for Power Transmission Networks from Public Data

This paper addresses the preparation of synthetic models for electric power transmission systems, using publicly available data.

Starting from information gathered from maps with multiple data sources, such as OpenStreetMap, nodes and lines are extracted and used to establish the topology of the network. An example constructed in an Italian region is shown.
