Towards the plasma-polymer simulation in treeing branches

In this work, we will take a step forward towards developing a model based on first principles that can represent the evolution of a plasma inside treeing channels.

Treeing is one of the primary phenomena influencing the aging of electrical network components. Various measurement systems are available to detect partial discharges associated with treeing. However, due to the complexity of this phenomenon, estimating the extent and progression rate of treeing is typically challenging. In this work, we will take a step forward towards developing a model based on first principles that can represent the evolution of plasma within treeing channels.

 

This can be considered a first step towards better estimating the remaining life of insulation components.
