RSE’s Meteorology Laboratory specializes in monitoring weather and climate conditions, with a focus on solar, using advanced tools to develop energy applications based on meteorological information.

High-quality sensors are installed at RSE’s Milan site to monitor solar irradiance in different ways. The weather station integrates multi-sensor sensors and a skycam to monitor cloudiness.

The laboratory extends solar irradiance characterization to Italian sites using spectrophotometers

Since 2005, multispectral images of Europe have been acquired by receiving Meteosat satellite data, which feed updated irradiance estimates published online.

The laboratory uses data from global meteorological models and operates limited-area models to predict extreme weather events and the producibility of nonprogrammable renewable resources
