RSE Commitment to ISGAN

The Director of RSE Transmission and Distribution Technologies Department has been reappointed Chair of the International Smart Grid Action Network.

At the twenty-seventh meeting of the Executive Committee (EXCO) of the International Smart Grid Action Network (ISGAN) initiative, held in Copenhagen on March 18-22, Luciano Martini, Director of RSE Transmission and Distribution Technologies Department, was unanimously reappointed for a third two-year term as ISGAN chair.

The appointment, renewed after the last election, confirms Italy’s relevant role in the leadership and definition of the strategic objectives of ISGAN, co-founder by our country along with the United States and South Korea. In fact, the initiative was strongly desired by Italy and represents a strategic opportunity at the international level to promote the technological innovation of smart grids, a sector in which Italy is a recognized world leader.

Formally established in Abu Dhabi in 2011, ISGAN is a 27-member international strategic platform that supports government action to accelerate the development and deployment on a global scale of smart, sustainable and resilient electricity grids capable of fostering a massive integration of renewable sources and thus promoting the ongoing energy transition.

The members of the initiative meet twice a year for the Executive Committee Meeting, that this time was hosted by the Danish Energy Agency in Copenhagen, to discuss and approve the annual work program, innovation projects and future commitments in international smart grid collaboration.
