Impact of the potential diffusion of electric vehicles on the electricity system

The project aims to assess the impact of the diffusion of PHEV/PEV (Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles) on the electricity grid, with particular reference to the electrical, economic, environmental and regulatory implications.

The studies concern scenario analyses and the implications for grid planning, development and operation. In particular, how to manage vehicle charging with demand side response techniques to exploit the possibilities of modulating the load diagram; how to exploit the availability of distributed storage to enable the provision of ancillary services to support the integration of distributed renewable generation and the resumption of service after blackouts; how to manage entire fleets of PHEV/PEV.
