Project 2.3 – WP2 – Dissemination of results and support activities for legislation and regulation – 2019

The dissemination of the results of the work package has been carried out through various communication channels, taking advantage of participation in conferences, standardization committees and meetings with industry professionals. The actions taken made it possible to reach a wide audience, both nationally and internationally.

This report documents the contributions of RSE for the dissemination of the WP results through different channels. Usual instruments of the technical-scientific field were used, such as the publication of papers for conferences in the electrical-energy and ICT sectors, and presentations for national and international events. Specific meetings were also organised with electricity and energy network operators, suppliers of electrical and electronic devices, IT and telecommunications industries. Several visits by interested parties to RSE Power Control Systems-Resilience Testing (PCS-ResTest) laboratory were held, aimed at presenting the IT and technological platforms developed within the project. At the academic level, RSE collaborated with Università del Piemonte Orientale, organising educational workshops, internships and graduation projects on cybersecurity in the energy context. With regard to dissemination activities towards the general public, communication actions were carried out on the press and online.

Results were also disseminated to standardisation and pre-standardisation committees, in particular CEI, IEC and CIGRE, and to national regulatory authority ARERA. With regard to the support to standardisation, the WP activities made use of the participation in the activities of WG 15 of TC 57 IEC related to the development of the IEC 62351 standard series, to which RSE provided contributions derived from the results of its research activities. Within WG 15, RSE was also the point of contact for CIGRE SC D2 activities dealing with cybersecurity issues.

At the national level, RSE contributed to CT 57 and CT 313. As chair of the CIGRE D2.02 Advisory Group on cybersecurity, RSE provided numerous updates to meetings, and coordinated several publications. At events scheduled by CIGRE, RSE acted as a Special Reporter for Preferential Subjects on cybersecurity and contributed to the CIGRE programme by providing thematic tutorials on cybersecurity technologies.

The report describes the actions carried out in the various dissemination areas, together with the list of available publications, including several internationally invited talks. The dissemination actions carried out demonstrate the relevance of cybersecurity activities for the process of digitalisation of energy infrastructure.
