Innovative Ideas

RSE has fostered a process of generating and collecting innovative ideas among researchers by encouraging a free and creative, out of the box approach, without any kind of judgment or bias.

Proposed innovative ideas will be categorized according to their nature, allowing their degree of innovation and potential impact on energy system research to be assessed. There are three categories: Incremental (I), Strategic (S) and Frontier (F). Incremental ideas are those that involve activities already established in RSE from previous projects or developed by other research centers, but have scope for expansion. Strategic ideas are those that have strong stakeholder interest but have not yet been developed. Finally, Frontier ideas have highly innovative aims and degrees of breakthrough (disruptive).
This phase sees the contribution of RSE’s Scientific Committee, which has developed a set of criteria that can be used to assess the interest of the proposed ideas and the capacity for Innovation expressed by RSE.

Once the innovative ideas have been collected, classified and analyzed, they are presented to the business community (the “Ti racconto la mia idea ” (I’ll tell you my idea) series of events), to kick off their experimentation and development, so that they can be transformed into concrete and viable solutions.

This initiative has enabled RSE to create a collaborative and stimulating environment for researchers to work together, not only in the conception of proposals, but also in their creative continuation and dissemination within specially created cultural spaces called Knowledge Communities.
