Energy Efficiency and Home Automation Laboratory Facility

The laboratory is an important tool for research and development of advanced solutions in the field of energy efficiency and smart energy management. The main purpose is to test innovative solutions for building climate control and the optimization of energy produced, stored and consumed.

It consists of two prefabricated buildings of identical size and similar construction characteristics designed to simulate the energy consumption of a typical single-family home.

The first building is home to the PREVO (Prosumer Evaluation Laboratory), which simulates a prosumer, i.e., a household equipped with a photovoltaic system, an energy storage system and a wallbox for charging electric vehicles. All these elements are managed by a sophisticated control system, which can apply strategies to optimize the energy generated, stored and consumed. The system can also actively participate in flexibility schemes, adapting energy withdrawals based on signals from the power grid.

The second building is dedicated to studying the behavior and performance of integrated system solutions for building climate control and domestic hot water production, under both specific and seasonal conditions. Through instrumental energy diagnoses and practical experiments, RSE aims to independently and empirically evaluate the economic and energy effectiveness of these technologies.
