RSE in Copenhagen on April 23 and 24 to discuss the strategic activities of the Joint Program.

The Steering Committee Meeting of EERA’s Joint Program (JP) Smart Grids, which took place on April 23 and 24 at DTU – Technical University of Denmark Risø Campus in Copenhagen, was an important opportunity to discuss and fine-tuning the strategy and specific actions for smart grids-related activities now and in the near future.

Luciano Martini, Manager of RSE’s Transmission and Distribution Technologies Department, was reappointed as the coordinator of the JP on smart grids and the members of the Managing Board were appointed. In addition, during the meeting each nominee as coordinator of the JP or its sub-programmes outlined their strategic visions with the aim of strengthening the JP activities.

Relevant international initiatives and projects, including Risenergy, Erigrid 2.0 Project, ISGAN – International Smart Grid Action Network and GPFM – The Green Powered Future Mission, were also presented during the first day, highlighting opportunities for future partnerships. In addition, members had the opportunity to visit the DTU Energy System Integration Lab, a laboratory for distributed energy resources with state-of-the-art research facilities.

Two interactive workshops were held on the second day, during which they discussed JP’s new approach to fostering the involvement of young researchers on key innovation topics in smart grids, and the definition of the table of content for a white paper highlighting the crucial role of smart grids for the success of energy transition.
