On 6th July 2024, ISGAN published the discussion paper “Summary of regulatory activities and conclusions of the FlexPlan project”, which summarizes the final conclusions of the project European FlexPlan, financed by the Horizon 2020 framework programme. The FlexPlan project (2019-2023), coordinated by Gianluigi Migliavacca, RSE Energy Systems Development Department, aimed at creating and validating a new innovative methodology for the planning of the electrical networks, which considers the opportunity to install new storage devices as well as to perform a flexible exercise of some selected loads as an alternative to building new lines in the prospect of minimizing the total system cost (TOTEX).

The report includes a summary of the regulatory conclusions formulated by FlexPlan for fostering a proper deployment and exercise of the flexible resources so as to maximize synergies with the grid planning actions carried out by the system operators.
