Intersolar Europe 2025: RSE joins the session on climate risks

Mitigation strategies and predictive approaches to enhance the resilience of PV systems under extreme climate scenarios: the in-depth speech by Giosuè Maugeri from the Generation Technologies and Materials Department.

RSE will participate in the technical session “Impacts of Extreme Weather on Photovoltaic Power Plants” as part of Intersolar Europe 2025.

The increasing frequency and intensity of extreme weather events – direct consequences of climate change – pose a growing threat to the operational continuity of photovoltaic power plants. Among the most critical impacts are irreversible damage to key system components, accelerated performance degradation and long-term losses in energy yield.

Can these impacts also be mitigated from an economic perspective? And what about the implications for insurance premiums?

RSE’s contribution, presented by Giosuè Maugeri, Generation Technologies and Materials Department, is titled “Tracking Through the Storm: Outsmarting Hail in Solar PV Systems” and will explore hail damage mitigation strategies, along with design and predictive approaches to enhance the resilience of PV systems under extreme climate scenarios.
