Resilience according to RSE and Terna in the article published in Springer Journal

The methodology considers various natural threats relevant to the Italian grid and allows for estimating the improvement brought about by infrastructure strengthening measures.

The article “An innovative methodology for risk-based resilience assessment to prioritize grid interventions against natural threats in the Italian power system”, illustrating the methodology jointly developed by RSE and Terna for assessing the resilience of the power system, has been published in the Springer journal “Environment Systems and Decisions.”

The methodology considers various natural threats relevant to the Italian grid and allows for estimating the improvement brought about by infrastructure strengthening measures.

For this reason, the methodology has been adopted by Terna in the context of Cost-Benefit Analyses to support the preparation of resilience plans, as required by ARERA.

The work is the result of over five years of collaboration between RSE and Terna, which, among other things, resulted in the definition of Annex A.76 to Terna’s Grid Code (“Methodology for the calculation of the resilience increase of the National Transmission Grid”).
