RSE in Bologna for E-Charge and Future Motive

A delegation from the Transmission and Distribution Technologies Department spoke on electric mobility.

RSE presented analyses and insights as part of the two trade fairs dedicated to the automotive sector: E-Charge, November 16-17, and Futurmotive, November 16-18, at the Bologna exhibition center.

Speaking at the E-Charge event for the Transmission and Distribution Technologies Department was Giuseppe Mauri, Head of RSE’s Research Group, at the ‘States General of Recharging – Electric Recharging as a Key Component of the Transportation Energy Transition,’ conference on November 16 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Starting from decarbonization goals, Giuseppe Mauri discussed in depth issues related to the electric car fleet in Italy and the evolution scenarios related to it, also mentioning residential charging infrastructure, with a focus on charging in condominium areas. In the afternoon session from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., Giacomo Viganò spoke on ‘The adaptation of distribution networks to the new models of electric absorption from charging,’ delving into the themes of charging and distribution networks, related challenges and development alternatives.

Andrea Cazzaniga spoke on ‘smart charging’ on November 17 from 9.30 to 11 a.m., presenting the results of the experimentation carried out in RSE’s e-mobility laboratories, as part of the session ‘Smart charging, storage and standard protocols,’ with an in-depth discussion entitled ‘Saying OCPP is not enough to do smart charging’. Afterwards Giuseppe Mauri opened a chapter on Vehicle-to-Grid with an in-depth discussion titled ‘V2G potentials and experiments,’ from 4:15 p.m. to 6 p.m.

There were also several in-depth discussions organised by RSE and hosted in the conference area dedicated to Futurmotive.

Sara Salamone from the Transmission and Distribution Technologies Department took stock of the decarbonization of freight transport in the workshop ‘Decarbonization of heavy freight transport: technologies, policies, market and integration in the electro energy system,’ on November 16 from 1 to 1 p.m.30.

On November 18, from 12 to 12:30 p.m. Piersilvio Marcolin illustrated the issues of charging in the corporate and residential environment with an in-depth discussion entitled ‘Current State and Innovation of Corporate and Residential Charging for Electric Vehicles.’ This was followed by analysis and fact checking with Project Leader Filippo Colzi who, from 1:40 p.m. to 2:10 p.m., held an in-depth workshop entitled ‘Electric Mobility: False Myths Compared with Scientific Data.’
