The CEO of RSE participated in the “Rigenera Boschi” event

In Milan, the awareness meeting focused on the preservation of forests.

The care and preservation of forests are crucial for the role they play in the energy transition, carbon dioxide absorption, and the production of renewable, programmable energy. This was the focus of the awareness event “Rigenera Boschi” (Regenerate Forests), organized by Sorgenia, which took place on September 25th at Parco Nord in Milan and saw the participation of many students from elementary and middle schools in the Milan area.

It was a rigorous scientific information meeting for the new generations, attended by Franco Cotana, CEO of RSE, who stated: “The care of forests has become an emergency as we have observed that climate change leads to periods of drought and strong winds capable of spreading fires across vast forest areas. According to the recent forest inventory, Italy uses only 30% of the wood that grows each year, compared to an average of 75% in Europe”.

“Forests in Europe and Italy are increasing in size by an average of 0.8% per year, due to the abandonment of marginal lands that are no longer profitable for traditional agriculture. Forests are a heritage to cultivate and safeguard for the multifunctionality they can provide: tourism, biodiversity, underbrush fruits, landscapes, and wood that can be used according to the principle of application hierarchy – furniture, decor, construction, structural wood, packaging, and finally energy”, Cotana added.
