Energy transition through PVs, EVs, and HPs: a case study to assess the impact on the Brescia distribution network

Local environmental concerns and the decarbonization process are driving the adoption of new technologies, such as electrical heating/cooling systems, residential photovoltaic generators, and electric mobility. Since these new devices are mostly connected to distribution networks operated by distribution system operators, their widespread implementation will have a substantial impact on the distribution system. Analyzing future development scenarios and the impact of new control techniques is therefore essential for evolving the planning and operation of power systems. These studies are conducted by integrating network data, including a georeferenced description of the distribution network, with external information derived from public data. This approach allows the impact of new loads to be studied across different scenarios. In particular, the methodology is applied to the Brescia network, a city in northern Italy.
