Evolution of the SW RELIEF tool for the assessment and improvement of the resilience of the power system

The report describes the software developments related to the evolution of the RELIEF tool for assessing and improving the resilience of the power system. The user manual and the instructions for installing the tool are also reported.

This supplementary report describes the evolution of the RELIEF software tool for assessing and improving power system resilience.
After a brief introduction to the previous work on the RELIEF prototype and the motivations that led to the development of the tool itself, the report describes the developments made, in particular the creation of the logical model of the network data, the workpoints and the network scenarios in the form of a PostGres database. Furthermore, a versioning of the code in Git has been implemented, which ensures an orderly development of the code itself.
The report then describes database access services and API functions for communicating with external databases, such as CORINE for forest cover or the Digital Terrain Model database, as well as functions for retrieving data from external tools.
A very important aspect described in the report to increase the flexibility of the tool is the encapsulation of the calculation functions of RELIEF, which allows the interchangeability of codes performing the same function. In particular, the encapsulation of the load flow calculation function in RELIEF is described.
The RELIEF 2.0 graphical interface includes two interfaces with different purposes and functions:

(1) an interface for launching calculation commands, which is used by the advanced user,

(2) a web-based GIS interface that allows an effective visualization of the analysis results (e.g. calculation of risk and resilience indices, optimization of active and passive measures for improving resilience).

Finally, the report includes the installation manual and user manual for RELIEF 2.0.
