Project 2.3 – WP2 – Dissemination of results and support activities for legislation and regulation – 2020

The dissemination of the results of the work package has been carried out through various communication channels, taking advantage of participation in conferences, standardization committees and meetings with industry professionals. The actions taken made it possible to reach a wide audience, both nationally and internationally.

The report documents the contributions made by RSE in various dissemination activities for spreading the results of the WP. The usual tools in the technical-scientific field were used, such as publishing papers at conferences in the electrical-energy and ICT sectors and presenting contributions at national and international events attended by operators in the electricity and energy networks, as well as industries in the information and telecommunications sectors. Academically, RSE collaborated with the University of Eastern Piedmont, organizing educational seminars, internships, and theses on cybersecurity in the energy context.

The dissemination of results also targeted standardization or pre-standardization committees, particularly within CEI, IEC, and CIGRE, and the regulatory authority ARERA. Regarding regulatory support, WP activities involved participation in the WG 15 of TC 57 IEC related to the development of the IEC 62351 series of standards, to which RSE contributed based on research results. Within WG 15, RSE also acted as a point of contact for CIGRE SC D2 activities dealing with cybersecurity issues.

At the national level, RSE contributed to CT 57, CT 313, and CT 316 by incorporating the most advanced international cybersecurity standards into Italian regulations for connecting distributed resources to distribution networks. As the chair of the CIGRE D2.02 Advisory Group on cybersecurity, RSE provided numerous updates at meetings and coordinated various publications. At CIGRE-scheduled events, RSE served as Special Reporter for the Preferential Subjects on cybersecurity.

The report documents the actions taken in various dissemination areas, along with a list of available publications, including several invited reports at the international level. The dissemination activities carried out demonstrate the importance of cybersecurity activities for the digitalization process of energy infrastructures.
