projects - Power System Research - Three year plan (2022-2024)

The Central Role of the User in the Energy Transition

The goal of the project is to encourage the participation of end users in the energy transition. The project seeks to analyze the constraints and opportunities related to the spread of widespread self-consumption schemes, focusing in particular on the potential of the residential and tertiary sectors.

RSE seeks to participate actively in the promotion, dissemination and evaluation of the impact generated by the involvement of end-users in the energy transition process, acting as one of the reference interlocutors to encourage the breaking down of national and regional regulatory and normative barriers concerning widespread self-consumption and energy communities.

This project monitors the development and dissemination of these models and quantifies the impacts they have. Such impacts obviously concern the electricity system, but, in keeping with European directives, also concern more generally local communities, planning models and the territory.

The project analyzes the support mechanisms activated by authorities such as regional authorities, with particular focus on the contribution to combating energy poverty.

Finally, the project aims to support the definition of energy policies for the efficiency and decarbonization of the civil sector, especially in the residential and tertiary sectors, taking into account the market environment and the role of consumers, through processes of technological efficiency and the promotion of behaviors for the conscious use of energy.
