‘LOOP’ Emission Proficiency Testing Facility

The LOOP is a facility that performs inter-comparison tests, also known as ‘proficiency tests,’ for pollutant emissions by simulating gaseous atmospheres similar to those released by combustion plants.

Compliant with UNI CEI EN ISO/IEC 17043:2010 and EN 17676:2022 standards, the facility includes a 70-meter wind tunnel with an internal diameter of 250 mm, generating gas flows up to 22 m/s and 180°C. A number of analyzers, such as SICK MCS 100E and Siemens Ultramat 6E, verify the mixture generated. Data from the analyzers are captured and recorded on a dedicated PC.
The LOOP can accommodate up to 5 sampling teams, using filtered and heated Swagelok® 6mm fittings or a DN100 PN16 nozzle. Proficiency Testing campaigns are organized periodically and are aimed at both public operators working in the National System for Environmental Protection (SNPA) and private operators.
