Integrated DYnamic eNERGY management for Steel production

The steel industry is an important consumer of electrical energy, accounting to a significant part of production costs, and considerably influencing the electrical network stability.

Thus, there is a growing need of closer cooperation between grid operators and steel industry by improving the power consumption prediction capabilities. Within the project, dynamical approaches for electricity demand monitoring and timely reactions to the grid situation will be applied, to avoid non flexible equipment disconnection and financial fines when deviating from energy contingent. Simulation, decision support procedures and control tools will be implemented at several steelmaking plants, to predict and manage power consumption.
