Supporting the development and deployment of advanced metering infrastructure in Europe

Smart meters are one of the pillars of the smart grids. They will help in the transition towards “active networks evolution” to massively integrate renewable energy sources into the grid and they will enable the full exploitation of technologies like electro-mobility and active demand management with great benefits in terms of the overall sustainability of the energy systems, positively impacting both the society and the environment.

Provided the urgency of the matter and the need to accelerate action to meet the targets indicated by the European Union, Meter‑ON project aims at elaborating a comprehensive set of lessons learned and recommendations in the field of smart-metering and advanced metering infrastructure in order to provide decision-makers and stakeholder a useful toolbox of both technical and nontechnical recommendation to foster the deployment of smart meters in Europe.
