TSO-DSO-Consumer INTERFACE aRchitecture to provide innovative grid services for an efficient power system

The INTERRFACE project aims at designing , developing and exploiting an Interoperable pan-European Grid Services Architecture to act as an interface between the power system (TSO and DSO) and the customers and allow the seamless and coordinate operation of all stakeholders to use and procure common services.

Objectives

INTERRFACE will demonstrate for the first time in the power sector the added value of sharing data among all participants in the electricity system value chain (customers, grids, market), from local, regional to EU level. It also will enable TSOs, DSOs and customers to coordinate their efforts to maximise the potential of distributed energy resources (DERs), demand aggregators and grid assets, so as to procure energy services in a cost-efficient way and create consumer benefits. Specific objectives are:

  • to design an Interoperable pan-European Grid Services Architecture (IEGSA) that will connect market platforms in a transparent, non-discriminatory manner and will allow a pan-European electricity exchange that will link wholesale and retail markets and will enable the trading of energy services.
  • to demonstrate the IEGSA components and architecture and the relevant IT infrastructure; IEGSA will be deployed in seven Demonstrations which will take place in nine countries (Greece, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Romania, Hungary, Italy, Finland, Estonia, Latvia), focusing on illustrating specific functions and serving real need and existing challenges, engaging different actors of the energy value chain.

RSE will lead the task defining the services to be implemented into the IEGSA platform and  will be involved in defining services market architectures.
