    A new IR laser scanning system for power lines SAG measurements

    Viene presentato un nuovo sistema di misura portatile basato su laser IR finalizzato alla misurazione dell’altezza da terra di conduttori elettrici di linee aeree e i risultati di test rilevanti per la caratterizzazione del sistema stesso.

    We present a new portable measuring system based on IR laser aimed at the measurement of the clearance to ground of an overhead power line conductor. Test results relevant to the performance characterization of the system will also be presented.

    The system can perform in real time very accurate measurements of the conductor clearance to ground, and it can be also used for the detection of snow or ice sleeves and to study their growth. Measurements can be taken also during rain or snow precipitations. The system can operate from ground position, so there is no need of out of service of the line for the system installation.
