An Open Source Software to implement the Automates Measuring Systems data analysis required by EN14181

Systems data analysis required by EN14181. Domenico Cipriano*, Antonio Negri* ,Anna Bonura**, Alessandra Ferrari*** CEM 2007 8th International Conference on Emissions Monitoring Zürich, Switzerland, 5,6 Settembre 2007 * CESI RICERCA ** ARPA LOMBARDIA DIPARTIMENTO di MILANO *** ARPA LOMBARDIA SEDE CENTRALE The promulgation of EN 14181 imposes some modifications of the procedures applied to acquire and elaborate data from AMS (Automated Measuring Systems). Such procedures are now commonly implemented by many commercial software, available on the market, but unfortunately these products use a lot of different approaches and data formats. It results in great difficulties for the Public Authorities both in controlling the conformity to law requirements, and in using emissions data, as the data acquired are in so many different formats that is very difficult to make any cross-check analysis. In order to avoid these kind of difficulties it is really urgent to make available a tool to harmonise the algorithms and the formats. On this purpose the research project ‘AEDOS’ (Aquisitore ed Elaboratore Dati Open Source) was launched. AEDOS is an open source software suite, based on linux operating system, able to acquire, elaborate, store and transmit the data generated by AMSs that offer many advantages as to the Public Authorities as to the Customers. The system, that is now on pilot field application stage, has the capability to fully implement the EN14181 requirements, also as the requirements of the new relevant European Directives.
