CVOC catalytic destruction: 1,2-dichlorobenzene vapour oxidation over vanadia-based catalysts

Recently updated on Maggio 11th, 2021 at 08:59 am

SCR commercial catalysts (V2O5-WO3 based materials) have been proposed to allow the simultaneous abatement of dioxin and NOx in the end-of-pipe treatment. Sseveral different catalyst formulations have been tested, but V- rich vanadia-tungsta-titania catalysts are mostly applied, reducing dioxins concentration well below the limits of 0.1 ngi-teq/nm3, as required by the EU directives. In this work, laboratory experiments have been performed in order to obtain data on the best catalytic activities of different catalysts in converting dioxin-like compounds such as 1,2- dichlorobenzene (1,2DCB), chosen as a model compound because of its structural similarity to the toxic 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzodioxin. Several materials, both commercial catalysts for application in power plants DeNOx reactors and new V-W-TiO2 materials have been successfully tested.
