Rocchetti**** ISH 2009 – 16th International Symposium on High Voltage Engineering Cape Town, South Africa, 24-28 Agosto 2009 * ERSE SPA ** PASSONI&VILLA *** CONSULENTE **** MACLEAN POWER – FRANCE The paper reports the results of systematic tests to analyse the performance of composite housings under short term dielectric tests (namely LI, SI dry and wet, AC dry and wet, and pollution) and reports the comparison of the electrical performance to that of porcelain housing. The possible extension of the results of dielectric tests on housings to the different apparatus to which they are applied is discussed on the basis of specific tests, with the simulation of active parts inside the housing.
