Effect of MV/LV transformer substations on MV power line signals propagation

propagation Luciano Capetta*, Carlo Ismaele Tornelli* WSPLC 2009 Udine, 1-2 Ottobre 2009 * Erse SpA This paper reports on characterization and modelling of medium voltage (MV) distribution networks in order to find out grid components contributions to power line channel frequency response. Medium to low voltage (MV/LV) transformer substations are among the main components of the MV distribution networks and affect the propagation of high frequency power line signals. Some experimental results and models helpful to understand the main causes of signal attenuation through these substations are reported. Measurements have been taken in a MV test facility at ERSE in the frequency range up to 40 MHz.
