Neumann (guest author) Abstract – The present paper gives a survey on the activities of the CIGRE Working Group A3.16, which specifically deals with interactions between different fault current limiting technologies and protection systems in both MV and HV systems. A summary of the work of the preceding CIGRE Working Group (WG A3.10) is also provided. The paper concludes with reports of recent field tests with fault current limiters in distribution networks in Germany and Japan.
