Mauro Scagliotti* Gaps between regulations and standards for stationary fuel cell systems – The installation compendium Roma,15, Dicembre 2009 PRESENTAZIONE POWER POINT * ERSE SpA This work is a contribution to the analysis of the regulations, codes and standards related to fuel cells for stationary applications within the Work Package 3 (WP3) of the EC 6FP FCTEDI project. Information on documents and organisations that are relevant in Italy for the installation of a distributed generation power system, and more specifically a fuel cell power system, are provided. Market issues, such as fiscal provisions and incentive mechanisms, are also analysed. At present fuel cell power systems for stationary applications benefit in Italy of the same incentive mechanisms of other high efficiency technologies for combined heat and power generation. An Italian case study is presented in details: the installation and operation of a 100 kW SOFC power system at the Turbocare premises in Turin. This power system was manufactured by Siemens and was previously operated in United States, The Netherlands and Germany for 20400 hours until 2002. In 2005 it was commissioned in Turin where it accumulated 16410 hours of operating time until June 2007. Aspects such the Authorisation Procedures, the interfacing with the local electric grid and safety issues in an industrial environment are considered.
