Metodologie di controllo predittivo multivariabile applicate a impianti termoelettrici di produzione di tipo convenzionale e a ciclo combinato

The first part of this work shows the results of a project aimed at verifying the possibility of application of modern industrial Model Predictive Control (MPC) to conventional thermal Power Plants. The project was carried out by coupling a detailed plant simulator with an industrial MPC package implementing the Dynamic matrix Control (DMC) MPC algorithm. The second part of the paper deals with Combined Cycle Power Plants (CCPPs). A simplified nonlinear model of a typical Combined Cycle has been developed in the Matlab/Simulink environment. The model, specifically designed for control purposes, guarantees the best compromise between reliability and simulation speed. MPC of steam temperatures has been compared to traditional regulation schemes. The whole research project aims at inspecting and proposing advanced plant control and management strategies in order to cope with the high levels of competitions induced by the energy market deregulation. The potentialities of MPC applied to power plants are witnessed by simulation results.
