On site verification of the Accuracy of HV Instrument Transformers Used for Metering Purpose with LLW methods: New Developmnts in Order to Simplify the Installation

The accuracy of measurement equipment is essential for energy metering and, by consequence, for electricity market correctness. The prototype of an equipment able to grant the possibility of checking the accuracy of instrument transformers used for HV metering, not interfering with normal service conditions, was presented in the past sessions. Experience gained during on site tests allowed to find new solutions in order to make the operation not only possible but also practically and economically feasible. The solutions found allow the installation of the equipment by means of methodologies based on “distance” technique only. In order to achieve this result, the reference current measuring system has been provided with a new enclosure and mechanism operated by insulating rods; a new idea of a simplified, transportable disconnector, able to make and break currents up to 500 mA, was conceived and validated by means of laboratory tests. This equipment can be connected to HV grid by means of LLW “distance” methods and can be used not only for connecting the reference voltage measuring system to the HV grid but also for other purposes and applications, where making/ breaking small currents is requested.
