On the recent improvements in the SPHERA code

Giordano Agate*, Roberto Guandalini Giornale: SPHERIC – SPH European Research Interest Community * ERSE SpA ERSE carries out research in the electricity and energy fields, focusing on the improvement of the Italian electricity system from the environmental safety, security and economical point of view. In the framework of a project on power generation and energy sources, safety issues due to interaction between hydropower schemes and the surrounding territory have been considered using also an approach based on the SPH methodology, resulting in the development of the 3D SPHERA code, completed at the end of 2008. In this frame, the recent code improvements are summarized and the last applications to 3D benchmarks are shown.
