The paper deals with the use of coatings based on polymer modified cementitious mortars applied on concrete surface in order to protect reinforcement against corrosion in chlorides containing environment. Six years exposure testing completes laboratory experimental data in order to define the protective mechanisms. The tests were performed on two commercial products with different polymer contents. The coatings are able to increasing the service time of reinforced concrete structures by reducing water content into the concrete and chloride penetration.
