Galahad (Advanced Remote Monitoring Techniques for Glaciers, Avalanches and Landslides) is a STREP project supported by EC under FP6 (Contract Nr. 018409) aimed at the development and integration of Remote Monitoring Techniques (namely Ground-based SAR and Terrestrial Laser Scanner) and at their application to Avalanches, Glaciers and Landslides. The deformation monitoring performances of the two techniques will be examined considering the different campaigns realized in the test sites of the project. In particular measurement principles, characteristics and results of GB-SAR instruments will be discussed with respect to the performances and possible applicability of the technique to permafrost-affected bedrocks.
