Vittorio Brignoli*, Davide Colombo**, Anna Malidin** 16th European Biomass Conference and Exhibition From Research to Industry and Markets Valencia, 2-6 Giugno 2008 PRESENTAZIONE POWER POINT * CESI RICERCA ** TURBODEN Asmall ORC biomass CHP turbo generator,SBTG,has been designed, constructed, and testedfor two years at CESI Ricerca in Milano – Italy – in cooperation with Turboden,a well established manufacturer of Organic Rankine Cycle turbo generators since1980. The system, with a nominal capacity of 10 kW electric, represents a successful modern way to produce combined heat and power at reduced scale, burning wood biomass. Among possible applications, rural contests, where biomass isavailable at marginal cost and ademand of reduced quantities of heat and power is present formost time of the year, appears to be ideal locationsfur such application. The smallturbo cogenerator is capable to convert biomass energy in heat and powerwith high reliability and reduced request of O&M. It is comprised by two main components, anoil heater and a turbo cogenerator, both of them conceptually derived from bigger models available on their own niche markets. Therealisation of the SBTG system implied a reduction in size and complexity of thereference models and the solution of anumber of problems of lay out and control. Operation in a wide range of conditions permitted to identify and solveminor problems and brought the system atfull operability according to thedesigned parameters. The SBTG control, developed by CESI Ricerca, permits to operate the system on site or remotely, via Internet, avoiding the presence of the operator on site with a highdegree of automatism.
