SREMS: a short-medium run electricity market simulator based on game theory and incorporating network constraints

theory and incorporating network constraints Gianluigi Migliavacca* Power Tech 2007 Lousanne Switzerland, 1-5 Luglio 2007 *CESI RICERCA SpA This paper outlines the main features of SREMS, a short-medium run electricity market simulator based on game theory. Some features distinguishing this software from many other equilibrium models described in the technical literature are: a detailed description of the network constraints allowing to study both system-wide and local market power exercised by generators and an original unit commitment algorithm that, yet carrying out the necessary simplifications that enable the application of game theory, tries to reproduce as far as possible the real operative behavior of the GenCos. The final aim is to perform scenario analyses in order to assess the bidding behavior of the market players within a realistic market framework.
