Towards the detection of crack coalescence at the interface between APS TBC and BC

APS TBC and BC Federico Maria Cernuschi*, Paolo Giulio Bison**, Sergio Marinetti** 9° meeting della COST ACTION 538 Milano, 18-20 Giugno 2008 PRESENTAZIONE POWER POINT *CESI RICERCA ** CNR ITC A very recently developed thermographic technique for estimating of the percentage of cracked interface between TBC and BC at a early stage will be investigated on coated samples during cyclic oxidation testing. The percentage of cracked interface is estimated by comparing the TBC thermal diffusivity, as experimentally measured, with the value expected by considering the sintering kinetics of TBC. The experimental thermal diffusivity evaluation has been performed by using a single side thermographic technique applicable even on real hot path components.
