The report summarizes the main results achieved during 2017 by the two European projects: EU-Sysflex and SmartNet. Since EU-Sysflex is still in its preliminary phases, the document summarizes the activities in which RSE is involved (with particular focus on the Italian demonstrator). Smartnet, being at the end of its second year, is summarized by reporting the results achieved during 2017, mainly consisting in the simulation platform that will be used to test TSO-DSO coordination schemes in three national electricity scenarios.
The present document summarizes the main activities carried out by RSE within the two European projects SmartNet and EU-SysFlex during the reference period (2017). These projects aim at investigating one of the currently most discussed topics in the electricity field: the exchange of ancillary services between transmission and distribution grids and the consequent roles evolution of the involved network operators.
EU-SysFlex is at its very preliminary phase, the report only lists the main activities in which the RSE team is involved. Particular focus is dedicated to the pilot activities, for which RSE will dedicate consistent effort in supporting the business use cases proposals and the field tests related to the Italian demonstrator led by e-distribuzione. On the contrary, SmartNet concluded its second year (of three) of the project and the report summarizes the main results achieved during 2017: they include the modelling of flexible resources, aggregators, network components and market clearing algorithms which compose a large scale simulator aimed at testing different TSO-DSO coordination schemes on realistic national scenarios (Italy, Denmark and Spain).
