Metodo di prova Small Punch: risultati di un round robin europeo di prove di creep

Recently updated on Maggio 11th, 2021 at 09:06 am

The Small Punch (SP) test technique is capable of generating tensile, toughness and creep strength data from very small specimens. The ability to sample test material from large components almost non-destructively is accelerating the interest in SP by industry, particularly in the energy sector. A Round Robin for the SP creep test performed on a 1CrMoV rotor steel was organised within the EPERC network, primarily in order to contribute to the harmonization of the test procedure for this new emerging method. In this presentation, the results of those SP creep tests performed at several temperatures and at one load level are analysed in order to assess their inter-comparability and also to interpret the results with respect to conventional uniaxial creep test results. The SP loading geometry features appeared to be a key parameter in the evaluation of the SP results, in particular for correlation with uniaxial creep behaviour. A standardisation initiative for the SP test method, including creep as well as low temperature testing for the determination of tensile and toughness properties of metallic materials, has been recently started via a CEN Workshop route.
