Survey and case study of PV integration study of transmission level with generation forecast and innovative flexibility

L’articolo si basa sull’esperienza degli autori nell’ambito del Task 14 IEA “High-Penetration of PV Systems in Electricity Grids”. In particolare nelle sotto-attività 3.4 e 3.5, alla data di pubblicazione del documento, si stanno eseguendo indagini in merito a pratiche e casi studio focalizzati all’esercizio innovativo del Sistema di trasmissione, basato sulla previsione di generazione rinnovabile e sull’utilizzo di innovative risorse di flessibilità. La memoria si focalizza sui risultati parziali delle suddette indagini in merito a: esistente e futuro impatto, sulla rete e sulla definizione dei mercati per l’energia elettrica, del FV e in generale delle fonti rinnovabili non programmabili (FRNP); struttura e orientamento degli studi di integrazione delle FRNP; risultati di casi studio nazionali.

Electricity industries worldwide are undertaking the challenging transition towards more sustainable energy demandand supply, including further electrification, optimum generation mix changes and the development of innovativesystem structure and tecnologies. In order to accommodate new demand and the variable renewable sources such as PV and wind, there are emerging needs to enhance the system architecture and system operation.

The authors, who are in Activity 3.4 and 3.5 of Task 14 “High- Penetration of PV Systems in Electricity Grids” of International Energy Agency Photovoltaic Power System Program, are surveying practices and case studies of innovative transmissionsystem operation of large scale PV penetration with generation forecast and innovative flexibility resources.

This paper fist presents the background and objective of the study (Section I). The authors then describe, as interim survey results of Activity 3.4 and 3.5, 1) existing and possible issues of PV and variable renewable penetration (Section II), 2) structure of PV integration studies to date and emerging trends for analysis, (Section III), 3) case studies (Section IV), and finally some key conclusions from the work to date (Section V).
