L’articolo riporta la descrizione del modello energetico multiregionale MONET. Oltre alla descrizione del modello sono riportati alcuni esempi di casi studio con la presentazione dei principali risultati evidenziando le diverse caratteristiche dei sistemi energetici delle regioni italiane.

The paper reports the description of the energy tool MONET. MONET (“MOdello Nazionale Energetico TIMES”) is a multiregional model describing the whole Italian energy system through the modeling of 20 structural-consistent and electric-interconnected regional tools. It aims to be used for supporting the energy planning both at regional and national level, for testing hypothesis on several energy related components/technologies, or for analyzing the system(s) subject to different environmental policies, by solving a unique decision problem with optimization techniques. Tool has been thought as a comprehensive framework, able to simulate local and/or national constraints, targets, policies that both the two different levels of governance would want to set. It allows to uncover the potential contradictions or redundancies on policies, and to increase the overall knowledge of the complex system, as well as the level of acceptability and effectiveness of the decisions in the medium-long term.
